Kerrang! is a UK based magazine in the genre of rock and heavy metal music, published by Bauer. It took its name as it appealed to the ideology of the audience, being a word to do with guitar chords used in this style of music. This is an effective way of selecting a good name that will appeal to the target audience, and I plan to use this method to chose the name for my magazine.
Kerrang! has risen and declined in popularity many times, and has tried to stay in the limelight by sticking to the latest trends within the genre. It has featured many sub-genres over the years and has changed format many times. When producing my magazine, I will try to keep within the latest trends so that I will attract a larger audience.
Kerrang! found that it's readers were made up of 60% male and 40% female, with their demographic being people in social classes D-C. This is useful as Kerrang! has a target audience of 16-24 year old's, which is the same as my target audience meaning that many of the techniques used by Kerrang! can also be used in my magazine.
